Sometimes we feel guilt and abandonment when someone we love ends up leaving us. There's nothing we can do to change what's been done but how do we get through what they left behind that we now have to endure? How do we let go of all of the "if only I had said or done this or that" and "what if I had just listened or probed a little deeper so they would have talked to me. What if maybe I could have prevented this"..
The truth is that we all go through the "what if's" and "if only's" and it can strip us of our joy when we beat ourselves up over things we cannot change and over those things that we could never know would even have worked in the first place. Sometimes people get so lost that they simply cannot find solution. Fear takes over and even they don't understand. All they know is that they want a way out. But where does that leave us? Well, it leaves us in a state of confusion for one. We know that God is not the author of confusion cause we are told in 1Corinthians 14:33..
For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
So we know that feeling does not come from God and therefore we must put that feeling off through prayer. We are told that He is the author of peace instead. When feeling confused.. pray for peace to replace it.
So what about the feeling of abandonment? Well, we are also told in Deuteronomy 31:8..
And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.
Knowing this we can take refuge in knowing that even with these feelings, we are never abandoned. Perfect love casts out all fear and God is that perfect love. He desires to give us everything we need and walk with us through every hardship. All we need to do is knock and He says the door will be opened.
This may be a very hard time for you and maybe even for your family and friends but just remember that you are not alone. God will help you through this and He is a comforter like no other. You must submit to Him though. You have to be willing to let go of the wrong feelings and let God replace them with feelings of comfort, strength, an abundance of love and joy. He is the ultimate counselor and friend. You need nothing more than He can give you. All you need to do is ask and you shall receive and He will wipe away all your fears and tears.
