• If you don't control your
mind/thoughts, you will not control your life; out-of-control life is the
result of an out-of-control mind!
• The difference between Bible
teaching and mind-over-matter teaching is: The Bible teaches the mind alone
cannot change us. There's no power in the mind. Our
thoughts/words are containers, and can be a positive or negative force. If you
'think' something, that doesn't make it
happen.
• When you think 'God's
thoughts', it opens the door for God's grace to move in your life and change
you. Dependence must be on God, and not on us. God gives
us authority to control our body, mind, and tongue, but only so He can have
free course to work in our lives.
• Ezekiel 36:25-27 (NKJV) Then I
will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you
from all your filthiness and from all your
idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will
take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a
heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My
statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
• When we're born again, God
cleanses us, gives us a new heart, and renews our spirit to live the life He
wants us to live.
• II Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed
away; behold, all things have become new.
• Fundamental truths we need to
keep before us at all times: (Say out loud . . .) "I am a spirit being.
That's who I am. I am not flesh, not physical, not a body.
I am a spirit. That's who I am. God made me and He made me in His image. He is
spirit so I am spirit, so I can have
fellowship with Him. My fellowship with Him is not with my natural body or my
mind, but with my spirit man. Not my body. Therefore
when my body is tired and I'm feeling discourage, it makes no difference. My
body has nothing to do with my fellowship
with God. I fellowship with Him spirit to spirit."
• John 4:24 (NKJV) . . . those
who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
• When we are too tired
physically to pray, we need to lie back in God's arms and let Him love us.
• John 10:10 (NKJV) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
• In this scripture the word
"life" is the Greek word "Zoe", which means life of
God/force of the life of God. God brings the essence/force of His life to live
on the inside of us when we are born again. Our spirit is born-again, made brand
new. God does absolutely nothing with our mind
(will, intellect and emotions) when we are born again. It is left up to us to
control our mind/thoughts, to bring them into
subjection to God's will for our life, which is spiritual growth.
• Spiritual growth: Take what God
has put into our spirit, and use it to bring rule/reign of God into our mind,
and our flesh (physical body). Bring our mind
and body into subjection of the spirit, not letting mind and body control us.
• If somebody lies about you,
etc., and you become easily offended and not able to let go of the offense, you
are a carnal (bodyruled) Christian . . . not a spiritual
Christian.
• I Corinthians 3:1 NKJV) And I,
brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal,
• Romans 8:1-8 (NKJV) There is
therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk
according to the flesh, but according to
the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me
free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law
could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own
Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on
account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement
of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk
according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live
according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the
flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be
spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity
against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor
indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
• Our spirit can become dull if
we allow body and mind to rule, and the spirit will no longer register
spiritual things. We zone out when the word of God comes to
us.
• Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) For the
word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of soul and spirit,
and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the
heart.
• This scripture means, when the
Word of God is spoken/read, the Word is alive and can pierce the soul, mending/
healing us.
• Proverbs 4:20-22 (NKJV) Incline
your ear to my sayings. 21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in
the midst of your heart; 22 For they are
life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.
• Read Mark 4, about parable of
sowing the word. (Some of us have 'stony, thorny soil' in our souls.)
• The amount of power of God you
have working in your life is directly related to how well you take authority
over your mind and body.
• If we 'feel' defeated, have
negative thoughts, worry, or our flesh is not under control, we will not hear
the Lord.
• I Corinthians 3:2-4 (NKJV) I
fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to
receive it, and even now you are still not able;
3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions
among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere
men? 4 For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are
you not carnal?
• Paul is dealing with offenses,
'clicks' in the church. If a church gets filled with this kind of stuff, we
can't 'hear' the Word of God.
• II Peter 1:1-3 (NKJV) Simon
Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained
like precious faith with us by the righteousness of
our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the
knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as
His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness,
through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and
virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious
promises,
• This scripture is saying: God
has given us the force of His life, and the things that pertain to the throne
of God on the inside of us (when we are born-again),
through the knowledge of Him. If we want to grow spiritually, we grow through
knowledge of God.
• Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV) I beseech
you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to
God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
• To renew our minds, we replace
old thoughts with God's thoughts.
• The purpose for Cleansing
Ministries is to help us break strongholds in our minds and bodies (things that
happen to us forming habits of bad behaviors and need
broken).
• The mind is renewed by growing
in the knowledge of God . . . knowledge of God is His Word, but that's not ALL
the knowledge of God. He can speak to
us outside of His Word but it will NEVER disagree with His Word.
• Again, verse3-4: "as His
divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness,
through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and
virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious
promises"
• Take hold of God's multitude of
promises, pray them, confess them, and ask the Holy Spirit to work it out on the
inside of us.
• Colossians 1:13 (NKJV) "He
has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of
the Son of His love,"
• Claim and stand on this
scripture and so many more, when the devil lies to you, and beats you up. We
have been delivered and the devil has no rule over our
life.
• Matthew 22:37-39 (NKJV) Jesus
said . . . “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all
your soul, and with all your mind' 38 This
is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall
love your neighbor as yourself.’
• Take this scripture as a
promise: you shall be a lover, not a hater; forgiver, not an un-forgiver;
gracious person, not an ungracious person.
• II Peter 1:4 (NKJV) by which
have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through
these you may be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
• Scripture tells us how to tap
in to God, through these great and precious promises. The partakers of the
divine nature are on the inside of us.
• If we are struggling with
relationships, impure thoughts, temptations, bad attitudes, un-forgiveness, God
gives us a remedy. Get in the Word, take hold of a
promise to bring growth and change in our lives. He has given us His power and
nature so we can escape the lust/corruption of the
world.
• God's power delivers us, but we
have to take hold of the promises, then His power is released in us!
